Since the introduction of the "Underdog Program" in February of 2019, "Jamboree", our Facility and K-9 Advocate, has been meeting and greeting guests at the Visitation and Advocacy Center of the 6th Judicial District and accompanying staff to orientations and visitations when called upon to provide emotional support during difficult situations.
Registered and Certified Alliance of Therapy Dog Teams have been established in cities all over the State of Wyoming including Gillette, Sheridan, Newcastle, Cheyenne, and Sundance. These teams are ready to assist and provide comfort in many settings including but not limited to airports, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehab facilities ,special need centers, hospice facilities, college campuses, Funeral Homes, Schools and our vision at the V.A.C, to be utilized by the Wyoming Courtrooms as well.
Recently, Jamboree completed the final phase of courtroom orientation training to help prepare her for what it is like to remain quiet during courtroom proceedings. She was familiarized with the courtroom by being able to inspect the room and witness box when the courtroom was empty and spending long periods of time lying quietly in the witness box with her handler out of sight from not only herself but the jury as well.
